Damián Ortega – Apestraction

A summer-long exhibition of work that the Mexican multimedia artist Damián Ortega created after he spent time with a rare species of apes, the Nigeria-Cameroonian chimpanzee, at the Gashaka Primate Project in Nigeria. Through a collection of mixed media pieces, Ortega bridges the gap between art and science to express the culture of the Gashaka chimpanzees and how blurred the boundaries between them and us are.
