Festival of Neighbourhood: Jeppe Hein's Appearing Rooms Fountain

The Appearing Rooms
Free
After a break last year due to drought, Danish artist Jeppe Hein's interactive fountain is back outside the Queen Elizabeth Hall. The installation, which debuted at the centre in 2007, sees walls of water rise and fall randomly to create a series of constantly changing 'rooms'. The challenge is to dart in and out without getting splashed – unless, in the case of kids both big and small, you fancy getting thoroughly soaked. We had a brilliant time!! My daughters Grace(9) and Holly(6) and dad(not too old) had a load of full on family fun. Forgot the towels and change of clothes or swim wear but what the heck isn't getting soaked and drying in an all too rare bit of English sunshine what it's all about! Great way to spend an hour or so.
