There are theatre that punch about their weight and then there's the Menier Chocolate Factory, a 150-seat venue in deepest Southwark that regulalry fires out transfers – particuallry of musicals – to the West End, end enjoy a close relationship with the great Stephen Sondheim.
The programming tends to be a mix of musicals and lighthearted plays, plus the occasional revue show imported from New York, and even the odd comedian.
Don’t be put off by the dearth of eateries along Southwark Street – the Menier plays host to a chic little restaurant, and the 8pm starts give you plenty of time to have a meal before showtime.
