Christmas specials. Like it or not, we’re in for a spate of TV personalities in yuletide jumpers this season. ‘Food and Drink’ is no exception, as celebrity culinary experts give advice on everything from canapés and posh sausage rolls to the perfect goose and, of course, the finest booze. Lucy Worsley is also on hand to look at Christmas traditions through the ages, and a Heston Blumenthal-trained chef looks to a high-tech culinary future; both of which make our present Christmas dinner preparations seem like a piece of cake.
Speaking of cake, Mary Berry steps up to lead festivities with regular Michel Roux, cooking up a storm in the kitchen and reminiscing on Christmases past. Not everyone will find the advice useful, but the tone is spot on. In fact, the whole thing feels like a big hectic Christmas dinner, with just the right level of corniness and good cheer. Just the thing to get you in the festive mood.
