Time Out says
The largest gallery (6,500 square feet) in the country devoted entirely to street artists and their work, Lab Art was inspired by the personal passions of its co-owners/collectors (and siblings) Rachel Joelson and Iskander Lemseffer. Joelson, who began collecting street art and getting to know many of the artists in her late teens/early twenties (her first love was Faile), realized that there was no place admirers could turn to to purchase the ephemeral pieces. (And sure, maybe that's the point. But, hey—even street artists' have to eat.) The siblings opened the gallery in 2011, and to date about 30 street artists (the majority, LA-based) are represented here in an eclectic collection including paintings, drawings, installations and more from Alec Monopoly, Thank You X, Mar, Louis XXX, Desire Obtain Cherish and—in the keep-an-eye-on this-one category—the budding Skyler Grey, a 12-year-old artist from the Crenshaw area who's got a thing for Basquiat and Warhol. The wide open, brick-walled gallery space invites lingering and is reminiscent of a Brooklyn artist's loft.
