Los Angeles Unified School District closed all of its schools today after receiving what is being called a "credible terror threat," according to KTLA. Around 5am this morning, LAUSD police received the electronic threat, which involved backpacks and packages, prompting LAUSD superintendent Ramon Cortines to close all LAUSD schools until further notice.

LAUSD includes about 900 schools in the Los Angeles area, it's the second largest school district in the country. Every school was ordered to be search and found safe before they can be reopened. As of 8am, other Southern California school districts were not affected.

"I've asked the plant managers to walk the school, and if they see anything that is out of order to contact police," Corines said.

LAUSD buses had left the depot in Gardena, with the bus drivers unaware of the closures. All buses turned around and went back to the bus yard. Schools and media outlets were continuing to get the word out to parents and children. If parents have already sent their child to school, they are to pick up their kid at the school's "reunion gate," and bring proper ID because no child will be released without it.

Be safe out there guys!
