Ashley Madison who? Best bars in Los Angeles for discreet meet-ups

Let us preface this post by saying we don't condone affairs. In fact, many of us at Time Out are in committed relationships with people we adore. However, in light of the Ashley Madison scandal we have to ask ourselves: If you're doing something on the sly, why leave a digital trail for hackers, especially in a city with ample discreet places to visit with your secret lover or meet one in person, not online? Really, if you're going to make a dumb decision, at least be smart in the follow-through. Proceed with caution.

Caña Rum Bar (Downtown): This bar actively works to keep the riff raff out of its venue by having a $20 annual membership fee. Its exclusivity is just one aspect that makes this a discreet bar. It also has a nondescript entrance from a parking lot for an easy come and go.

Bar Jackalope (Downtown): This is actually a bar within a bar, tucked inside a converted back room of Seven Grand. Press the call button and an unmarked door inches open just wide enough to allow an impeccably dressed host to signal patrons inside. Secrecy at its best.

Blind Barber (Culver City):  You don't even have to lie about where you're going. Say you're getting a haircut and go to the Blind Barber. Once the snip-snips are finished, head on back to the dimly lit speakeasy where you can sip on delicious drinks and meet plenty of singles. Blind Barber is a standout among the city's best singles bars.

Vaseline Alley (West Hollywood): This alley located off Santa Monica Boulevard behind the Gold Cost Bar is known as a gay cruising spot. In this alley, be discreet. You never know who is watching, including cops.

Sam's Hofbrau (Downtown): If you're already in a side relationship and they are willing to go along with an affair, it's unlikely heading to this topless bar is going to be a dealbreaker. And on the bright side, if you run into your main significant other here, you likely both have a reason to be pissed off and let's just call it game over. Sam's Hofbrau not your style? Choose from the best strip clubs in Los Angeles.

Beverly Hills Hotel (Beverly Hills): It's been rumored that this swanky hotel and bar is where Ben Affleck and his former nanny Christine Ouzounian would meet up before nannygate went public. If someone as high profile as him can get away with it (for a little while) here, why can't you?
