The Los Angeles Theatre opened its doors in 1931, but it's just now prepping for its first full-scale theatrical musical. Carrie: The Musical premieres at the historic Downtown Los Angeles theater October 8 through November 22—preview performances begin October 1.

Bringing Stephen King's novel to life, the interactive musical transforms the theater into a high school gymnasium, putting the audience into the mix of it all. The show will feature haze, strobe lights and lots of blood and is for mature audiences only.

Directed by Brady Schwind and choreographed by Lee Martino, the production premiered earlier this year at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts to rave reviews. Much of the original cast will return for the LA production, including Carly Bracco, Adante Carter, Misty Cotton, Valerie Rose Curiel, Bryan Dobson.

"We are absolutely thrilled that theater-goers in Los Angeles will now get the chance to discover Brady Schwind's unique and dynamic vision of our musical Carrie and its amazing cast," the creators of Carrie: The Musical—Michael Gore, Dean Pitchford and Lawrence D. Cohen—said in a statement. "In particular, we're excited by this immersive approach that makes the experience so visceral and emotional—and, at the same time, such enormous fun."

Tickets, now on sale, start at $40 and can be purchased online or by phone. Show times are 8pm Tuesday-Friday; 6:30 and 11pm October 17, 31 and November 14; 2 and 8pm October 3, 10, 24 and November 7 and 21; 2 and 6:30pm Sundays.
