If you haven't already heard, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter. If you live in Pennsylvania, or the Midwest, or pretty much anywhere besides the beautiful palm tree infested concrete jungle we call home, you may not like the furry rodent too much right now. But as far as Angelenos are concerned...we love Phil.
Along with some much-needed rain, we've also been the recipients of highs in the mid-to-upper 70's accompanied by blue blankets of sky. Not to mention, it's starting to stay lighter later into the evenings—and unlike some cities in the country, you can actually tell. This past Saturday saw a placid Pacific Ocean glisten as the sun beamed over it, while runners trained in near-perfect conditions along the trails and bikers cruised on the boardwalk.
If you weren't at the beach this weekend and instead decided to take advantage of free museum day on Saturday, then the weather was ideal for strolling leisurely around the Getty Center, LACMA or MOCA. Maybe you were at a bar watching the Super Bowl or even spending your four hours Sunday afternoon doing something other than watching the big game, but no matter what you were doing in LA this weekend, the sun shined brightly over it.
While you might not buy into Groundhog Day (or not believe that unicorns exist and that Bruce Jenner is all-natural) then today may just be another day that reminds you of how awesome Bill Murray is. However, if you do believe in it, then it's pretty clear that if we have six more weeks of winter then, well, bring it on!
Let's face facts: winter in LA is about as rough as Leonardo DiCaprio trying to find a date in South Beach.
