Cruising the cosplaying scene at D23 Expo isn't too unlike a trip to Disneyland; you have your standard Snow White, Tinker Bell and Elsa alongside Thor and Darth Vader. But the fan convention takes a sharp left turn from those Disney-sanctioned costumes with its horde of mash-ups.
If you're dressing up like a Disney character, there's more to draw on these days than just princesses; we're talking almost 80 years of feature length cartoons and almost as many of live action films, paired with the more modern acquisitions of movies from Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm. It's no surprise then that fans have begun mixing and matching costumes from these properties, in particular Star Wars.
