What to do Labor Day Weekend

Take a moment to think back to Memorial Day weekend (remember that other three-day weekend that feels like the beginning of summer?) when you were like, "this is going to be the best summer EVER! I'm going to do everything on Time Out Los Angeles' 75 things to do this summer list!" Right?

Well, I've got good news and bad news. The bad news is, September starts on Monday. Yikes, how did that happen?! The good news is, it's a holiday.

So here's some inspiration for how to spend those extra 24 hours of weekend now that you're feeling that end-of-summer pressure.

  • The Made In L.A. exhibition at the Hammer Museum is Westwood closes Sept. 7, just a few days away. It's not to be missed. The museum is closed Mondays, so swap out something you were planning to do on Saturday or Sunday (open 11am-5pm) and go to the Hammer instead.
  • Speaking of great art exhibitions closing soon, LACMA's "Expressionism in Germany: Van Gogh to Kandinsky" ends Sept. 14. The museum is open Mondays. Also "Perseverance: Japanese Tattoo Tradition In A Modern World" ends Sept. 14, but the museum is closed Mondays. Go Saturday or Sunday, and explore Little Tokyo while you're at it.
  • Monday is the last day of the UNIQLO pop-up sale at the Beverly Center. The actual UNIQLO store doesn't open at the mall until Oct. 10, so buy all your summer-to-fall transition pieces this weekend.
  • Go for a hike, and then go to bed early because the first Dunkin' Donuts opens in Santa Monica bright and early tomorrow (5am!).  The first person in line wins free coffee for a year, and the first 100 people in line get a swag bag. Plus, donuts. Dunkin' Donuts.
