Little Tokyo received a new Southeast Asian restaurant in the form of Simbal from chef Shawn Pham. Dim sum carts make their way through the dining room, offering items like banh mi salad, wild shrimp with congee and crispy tofu, along with really fantastic cocktails. A new family-style menu was recently introduced, allowing diners the option to select from large format plates at $32 or a communal tasting menu for $40 per person. Pham has spent the last few years perfecting his cooking skills in Vietnam; lucky for us, we get to experience the fruits of his labor.
