Business Chicks Breakfast With Taryn Brumfitt says
A few years ago, Taryn Brumfitt posted a before and after photo on social media. But it wasn’t the type you usually see. The ‘before’ was crazy-fit Taryn in a bikini, and the ‘after’ was of a heavier Taryn, she was naked, side-on and smiling – she was happy.

The internet went insane – people applauded her, people hated her, people didn’t understand how she could possibly be happy and heavier. Seven thousand emails and 100 million views later, Taryn realised she needed to share her journey and message of body love with the world.

She founded Body Image Movement, now an internationally recognised crusade that recognises the importance of body diversity, redefining and rewriting beauty ideals by harnessing and facilitating positive body image activism.

Her message was one that resonated with women everywhere, but Taryn had so much more to say then she could fit in to 140 characters or a four-minute TV interview. She started a Kickstarter campaign so she could create a documentary called, EMBRACE. The EMBRACE Kickstarter trailer has had over 23 million views and earned the support of personalities such as Rosie O’ Donnell, Ashton Kutcher and Ricki Lake. It’s the most successfully crowd-funded documentary in Australian history.

The documentary is a must-see. Taryn talks to women on the street around the world who all admit they don’t have much love for their bodies. She then goes back and pushes for what they really feel. The word ‘disgusting’ is used a lot. Women aren’t just dissatisfied with their bodies, they are repelled. It looks at the fashion industry and the media and what they’re doing to contribute. She talks to women like Turia Pitt, Ricki Lake and Mia Freedman on their experience. The culture of body loathing and body shaming has reached epic proportions worldwide, but Taryn’s on a mission to change that. She wants to teach you how to love your body, big time.

We put women on our stage who’re shaking things up, who’re influencing and changing the landscape for all of us – that’s Taryn – and we can’t wait to welcome her to the Business Chicks stage.
