Great Tales in Asian Art - In-conversation
Saturday 3 September, 2pm

Dr. Royall Tyler and Russell Kelty present the complexities of translating two of Japan’s most iconic and ancient works of literature, 'The Tale of Genji' (c. 1007) and 'The Tale of The Heike' (c. 1309), both of which have had a defining impact on art and culture.

Dr. Royall Tyler is formerly from the Australian National University and is a recipient of Japan’s highest honour, the Order of the Rising Sun. Russell Kelty is the Associate curator of Asian Art at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

This In-conversation is presented in conjunction with the display 'Great Tales in Asian Art' now showing in Galleries 20 and 21.
