AFRODOWNUNDER says
After a pause, Afrodownunder is proud to announce that DJ Kwenda is back on the African scene with the upcoming ‘Kenyan Affair’!

In the lead up to the Sydney 7s in February, DJ Kwenda, endorsed by the Australian Rugby Union (ARU), will be DJ'ing for Kenyans to gather momentum for the legendary cheer squad in support of the Kenyan team at the games, as well as the renowned ‘AFTER7S’ after-parties across that weekend on the 5-7 February 2016!

As a bit of background, DJ Kwenda won a racial discrimination case against a Melbourne nightclub who had cancelled an Afrodownunder event 5 days before it was to be held “due to the fact that the majority of patrons would be African”.

The legal proceedings took many, many months, throughout which DJ Kwenda effectively had to put on hold the organisation of events for the African community until a verdict was delivered. And what a verdict it was!! Though DJ Kwenda was unable to personally be involved in African events during this period, the momentum in any case enabled other African nights to surface.

When the court ruled that the nightclub engaged in direct racial discrimination by cancelling an Afrodownunder event because of our (African) race, this was a win on behalf of all Africans, as well as anyone who has ever experienced any form of discrimination. And so DJ Kwenda’s pursuit of justice, and vehement advocacy for his fellow Africans, was stamped.

This determination, coupled with DJ Kwenda’s full-time career as a professional DJ, has etched him as being one of the finest DJs for events which he has maintained all the while, whilst regretfully needing to put African events on hold. He is well sought-after for clubs and festivals, and was head-hunted to open for Grammy-award winning artists Sean Paul and Mya on their Australian tour, again just reinforcing the undeniable talent he is.

DJ Kwenda will bring skill and the best of music back to the African communities starting with ‘Kenyan Affair’ (much like what can be expected at ‘AFTER7S’ in Sydney in February) and mix:

♪♪ Afrobeats | Genge | Afro House | Soca | Dancehall | Reggae | Club Anthems | Funky House | HipHop | R& B and more! ♪♪

In the spirit of Sydney 7s fever, there will be chances to win Sydney 7s tickets as well as free passes to ‘AFTER7S’ throughout the night, as well as ‘House Of Marley’ gear and Kenyan t-shirts giveaways!

PLUS Tuskers and samosas will be available!
