The Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai is an academy dedicated to dance and music that was founded in 1936.
Acclaimed for its incredible technique, Kalakshetra stages dance-dramas based on Indian mythology, as well as folk dance performances and classical Bharathanatiyam dance pieces.
The foundation is in Perth for the Confluence Festival and will be performing Jataya Moksham, a story from epic poem the Ramayana about the killing of a noble eagle. The performance is at Studio Underground at the State Theatre Centre.
