West Coast Fever’s first home game of the season sees them take on the Queensland Firebirds in a Friday night blockbuster. This is the second time the Firebirds will take to the Perth Arena court, with Fever one of only two teams to have defeated the Queensland side in the past two years.

The premiers from the final season of the ANZ Championship will be without a number of key players including Kim Ravillion who moved to the new Magpies Netball franchise, while Laura Geitz takes a year out of the game. Despite their losses, the Firebirds still have plenty of firepower, with shooters Romela Aiken and Gretel Tippett set to lead from the front.

The game sets up a number of exciting matchups, perhaps none more important than Aiken v Courtney Bruce. The young defender was outstanding against the Jamaican in both matches last year, and will be an important part of Fever’s campaign in 2017.
