If Afia African Village were any closer to the sea, staff would need to hand out scuba gear at reception. This beachside complex is made up of the Afia Beach Hotel’s 29 rooms (nine rooms face the ocean), Tribes Bar and Restaurant, which offers Ghanaian and international cuisine, and the Afia Gallery – actually a shop – which sells fabrics, jewellery and an assortment of wooden masks and carvings. The complex is a little way out of the city centre, although it’s close to Black Star Square, Jamestown and, of course, the beach.
