If the lines that form outside of Slippery Slope on most nights are any indication, the bar has become a destination for people who like to drink bottled cocktails while strutting their stuff on the dance floor. Since opening in May, the Logan Square spot has become the host of monthly dance parties like Slo 'Mo and RetroActive as well as weekly events like New Wave Wednesday.
Now Chicago's premiere archival record label, the Numero Group, is joining the fray, debuting a monthly event dubbed The Chicago Party. Taking its name from an obscure local TV program from the '80s, the party will feature Numero Group DJs playing hip-shaking cuts from the label's catalog and beyond. If you haven't wasted all of your money on the bar's Skee-Ball machines, you'll also be able to pick up some exclusive 45s and Numero merchandise.
The free party kicks off on August 20 and will occur regularly on the third Wednesday of each month. If you expect to get a spot on the dance floor, you better show up early.
