Sting to Paul: "We'll be together tonight." Paul to Sting: "You can call me Al." At least, that's how we're imagining the meeting of these two '80s adult-pop titans. Sting is working songs off his first record of new studio material in a decade, The Last Ship, a narrative song cycle about boat building set in Northern England, based on an upcoming play by Sting. It's better than that sounds, with the gracefully aging crooner-bassist slipping into local brogues. Simon's last one, 2011's So Beautiful or So What, was a good one, too. No surprise that he would slide into his elder years in top form-the folkie has forever written about adulthood.
