Good restaurants, good wine shops, good food shops: Ranelagh has become a little foodie nexus. Antica Venezia is staffed and (mainly) patronised by Italians - on some evenings, we have been completely surrounded by the sound of Italian being spoken (a welcome soundtrack to any meal). Food is predictable Italian fare (fresh antipasti, pastas aplenty - gamberoni, carbonara, amatriciana, arrabbiata, toscana, pesto, bolognese - and big pizzas) bolstered by a number of grilled meat dishes. Prices are quite reasonable, and the atmosphere makes for a romantic, if faintly kitsch, dining experience.
