Gearing yourself up for Christmas shopping? Sure, diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but if you’re after something a bit different, look to one of London’s independent jewellers who are championing dark gothic vibes, galactic jewels and massive cocktail rings that could do some serious damage.

Only Child

Only Child creates the kind of cosmic bliss that's suitable all year round — whether adding a bit of pizazz to a Christmas party outfit or getting down with the fairies in woodland summer festivals. These rocks are flamboyant and handmade in Hackney by designer Kelly Jackson. Find Only Child at Showroom Shoreditch's Christmas gift shop from November 23, with a free drinks shopping event on November 28 and 29.

Eleanor Bolton

Developing an individual craft technique, Eleanor Bolton hand-stitches and coils her jewellery to form lightweight-but-sculptural statement pieces. An RCA graduate, Eleanor’s necklaces and bracelets cross the line between fashion and design, and are both nautical and tribal in feel. Find Eleanor Bolton at the East London Designer Christmas Sale on Saturday November 28 and enjoy seasonal discounts, free mulled wine and mince pies.

Mei-Li Rose

A masterclass in simplicity, Mei-Li’s pieces are bang on trend, with minimal lines, brushed metals and a fantastic set of midi rings. There will be a new collection dropping on the website too, so keep your eyes peeled. Get 25 percent off from November 26-30 with the code blackfriday25 at www.meilirose.com.

Rachel Entwistle's jewels are just the right mix of dark and refined. Arrowhead earcuffs, delicate snake rings and small cross hoops are handcrafted from the designer's Shoreditch studio. Here, old world mythology meets forward-thinking fashion. Also, FKA Twigs is fan. Rachel Entwistle's shop is located at 5a Club Row in Shoreditch.

SVP Jewellery

Don’t try to take a bite out of this jewellery. Based in Marylebone, SVP makes delicious cocktail rings that are mostly sweet-inspired (bonbons, honeycomb etc.) and are available in a huge range of colours and stones. The biggest, jewel-encrusted thumbs-up goes to the milky pastel varieties and the glitter laden-stones, namely, aqua and blue sunstone.
