In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the iconic children’s tale Madeline, the NYHS will display more than 90 works of art by the talented author and illustrator Ludwig Bemelmans. Visitors can marvel at original drawings from his beloved picture book collection—portraying a young Parisian girl and her adventures at boarding school—plus photographs, memorabilia and murals evoking beautiful French scenes and landscapes. Delve into Bemelmans’s history as a New York City transplant who frequented city landmarks like the Carlyle Hotel. All ages.
