Fun fall foliage cruises to check out ASAP

Heading out for a hike in Central Park or Prospect Park isn't the only way to see great fall foliage this season. These fall-themed cruises are departing from NYC docks this fall, and they're perfect for families looking to get away for an afternoon. There's definitely a pick for everyone—and with hiking and sightseeing opportunities on offer, how can you say no? Circle Line Onboard Oktoberfest

Jump back in time for a traditional German celebration complete with giant pretzels, schnitzel, bratwurst and German beer (for the adults)! Onboard, there will be live Polka and Oom-pah bands, plus you’ll get to soak in the views of gorgeous fall foliage and Bear Mountain. You’ll see the Palisades and Hudson Valley before being dropped off at Bear Mountain, where you can do fun stuff like hiking, biking or visiting the zoo. New York Water Taxi Sleepy Hollow Ferry

Take a cruise with the Sleepy Hollow Ferry to tour one of New York’s most famous (and boo!-tiful) places. Participants will take a journey up the Hudson to see gorgeous fall foliage, and they’ll get to enjoy Halloween-themed movies and hot apple cider (not to mention cocktails for Mom and Dad) during the ride. When you get to Sleepy Hollow, you’ll have the opportunity to visit historical sites, hop on haunted hay rides, tour spooky cemeteries and dine at great local restaurants (you’ll pay for those separately). Fall Foliage Cruise  

Climb aboard Classic Harbor Line’s Manhattan, a graceful 1920s-style yacht on which you glamorously cruise the Hudson River. In addition to gazing from the breezy outdoor decks, you can also admire the kaleidoscope of autumn leaves through the skylights of the ship’s heated and enclosed observatory. The cruise is not narrated, but keep an eye out for the Little Red Lighthouse as you sweep by the George Washington Bridge.
