After School Textiles at Textile Arts Center
This craft hub offers kids an introduction to weaving, screen-printing, sewing and dyeing. Over the course of the semester, students make one-of-a-kind garments, bags and other housewares. Fabric Arts Studio at the JCC
Using hand-sewing techniques and a range of embellishments, tweens create stylish accessories they can wear home. The JCC in Manhattan, 334 Amsterdam Ave between 75th and 76th Sts (646-505-5708, jccmanhattan.org). Fall session begins Sept 12. Sixteen classes $760. Ages 8 to 10.

Fashion Design for Kids at the Fashion Class
Vera Wangs in the making start by learning the basics—sketching, cutting fabric, threading a sewing machine—and cut their teeth on simple projects like tote bags. As the class progresses, kids graduate to more advanced undertakings (think slippers, headbands and T-shirts). Kids' Basic Sewing at the Esaie Design School
Young fashionistas receive step-by-step instruction on how to assemble original garments. Depending on which session they choose, they'll work toward creating a skirt, a pair of drawstring pants or a vest.
