Tonight, for the 33rd year in a row, cultural hubs along Fifth Avenue—the Met, the Museum of the City of New York, the Jewish Museum, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and more—will open their doors to visitors free of charge. Families can check out some of our favorite exhibits, including at the Cooper-Hewitt, at the Jewish Museum and "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" at the Met. (We're thinking that last one will be extra-crowded, so plan to get there early.) There are also a ton of cool outdoor performances (clowns, magicians and musical acts) as well as art-in-the street activities to keep kids and parents busy as they wait in line to get into the various institutions. Click Museum Mile Festival for our complete guide to the night's festivities. Museum Mile Festival, Tue June 14 6--9pm, Fifth Ave between 82nd and 105th Sts (212-606-2296, museummilefestival.org).
