If your idea of comfort is diving into a hearty sandwich amid a forgiving din, then one of the Grey Dog’s three locations fits the bill. Add in a glass of crisp white wine and cookies the size of your head, and you may never want to leave. The joint plies picky eaters with numerous lunch options for $10 and under: chicken-salad-and-bacon melts, PB&J, juicy burgers and transcendent fries. Tots may also want to choose veggies and dip ($10.95) or chicken tenders ($9.95) from the Small Plates menu.

Having spent plenty of time here on lunch hour in previous years, this place is a good find for families. There are finger food options like customizable quesadillas plus salads and sandwiches, and it's not as expensive as some of the surrounding food joints. There are plenty of tables and chairs for a sit-down meal, too. The food isn't anything groundbreaking, but it definitely fills the void.
