Tinkergarten

The early-learning program gives city kids the opportunity to discover and explore in an outdoor classroom. Attendees will develop self-esteem and focus through group activities in many of New York City’s green spaces, including Central Park in Manhattan, Ewen Park in the Bronx and Fort Tilden at Rockaway Beach. In each lesson, the natural environment plays a significant role, providing materials to use in crafts and “outdoor kitchen” cooking or inspiring discussions about, say, the seasons. Parents will need to pack a snack and water and make sure their sprouts are outfitted in weather-appropriate gear. Ages 18 months–8 years.
