Save a life: Attend a donor drive

About a month ago, a little boy from Manhattan named Kai Anderson was diagnosed with a very rare form of Leukemia. Although he's undergoing chemotherapy, he desperately needs a bone-marrow transplant. Sadly, there just aren't enough donors: fewer than 20% of those in need of a transplant ever get one. The good news is, you can change that. Donor drives are being held throughout the city over the upcoming weeks to help Kai find a match. This weekend, Whole Foods in Tribeca is hosting one. All it takes is a swab of your cheek to see if you're a match; if you are, the outpatient procedure isn't invasive—it's tantamount to giving blood. And hey, you may be saving a life.

FREE Fri 8 5--8pm; Sat 9 10am--2pm. Whole Foods Market Tribeca, 270 Greenwich St at Murray St (917-287-4039, hopeforkai.com). Subway: A, C, 1, 2, 3 to Chambers St; E to World Trade Center.
