The butterflies are back at the AMNH

picture-11 The Bronx Zoo's Butterfly Garden goes into hibernation at the end of this month. But don't fret: You can get your fill of the colorful winged insects at the American Museum of Natural History's Butterfly Conservatory , which returns to the Upper West Side tot spot this Saturday, October 16. It's the 13th year for this popular exhibition, which allows families to experience a bit of the wonder of spring in the dead of winter. Tickets are steep—$24 for adults, $14 for kids, and no, that's the price, not suggested admission—which is why we recommend purchasing an annual family membership (for a family of four, it pays for itself in two visits!). Trust us, you'll be spending a lot of time there come January. Photo: Denis Finnin/AMNH
