The NYBG's Thain Family Forest Dedication Festival takes place November 5--6 and 12--13

One of New York's last swaths of original forest—stretching back as far as the days of the Lenape—can be found in the Bronx, within the confines of the New York Botanical Garden. This weekend and next, November 5--6 and 12--13, the botanical wonderland fetes the dedication of the Thain Family Forest with an outdoorsy festival that's perfect for families in need of some fresh fall air. Your gang can take a naturalist-led walk through the woods, stop by the Forest Fair, watch a tree-climbing demo and even canoe in the Bronx River. Live music, poetry readings and refreshments mean there's most certainly something for everyone. Sat, Sun Nov 5--6 and Nov 12--13 noon--5pm. New York Botanical Garden. Free with garden admission. All ages.
