Chingay Parade hops onto the SG50 bandwagon as it returns with the unfortunately unimaginative theme of ‘We Love Singapore’, comprising a two-night parade, a Chingay Night Fiesta at Orchard, and five heartland parades.
The largest-ever number of international performers is set to feature this year, with participants from countries as diverse as Russia, Rwanda and Turkey. As usual, the parade’s highlights are the 12- to 18-metre-high floats, stilt walkers, and lion dancers.
And in the grand finale, expect to see a gigantic ‘Tree of Hope’ embellished with well wishes from local youths and hear JJ Lin belt out a specially penned tune, ‘Dream’.
