It’s good to have a little padding, especially when it’s at no extra charge – the folks over at vintage-furnitured Barracks have added onto their menu a not-so-skinny pizza: a fuller, chewier 150g base that comes in 13 combinations. We like the salami and pesto ($24) – a warm scatter of spicy Italian salami, roasted capsicum, French goat cheese, green olives and fresh basil. If you’re there for brunch, look for the new additions: the simple asparagus and poached eggs ($18) with brioche croutons is satisfying and semi healthy. If holding back is over-rated, there’s a good selection of ice creams and the decadent berry-stuffed French toast ($19).
Pizzas $20-$27; brunch $18-$21.Barracks is located in House at Dempsey Hill.
