Kingyo review Rate it

Japanese izakayas (roughly translated as 'sit and drink spots') have been all the rage in Vancouver for some time. Small plates of casual Japanese food (more likely cooked, though sashimi is usually available) provide a solid foundation for the quantities of beer and sake enthusiastically ingested alongside. While Hapa and the many Guu branches were the local pack leaders, newcomer Kingyo arrived in 2007 and upped the ante with DIY stone grills and some nifty presentation. Noisy, boisterous and fun - so don't plan on a romantic tête-a-tête.
