Vancouver scored two spots on this year’s prestigious ranking, while Whistler and Calgary helped Western Canada make a major splash across North America.

Food-lovers rejoice!
The prestigious North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2026 has officially been revealed, and Vancouver’s dining scene is once again in the spotlight.
The announcement was made during a lively awards ceremony in New Orleans, where the 50 Best organization unveiled this year’s list. Canada had a standout showing overall, with 14 restaurants making the ranking—four more than in 2025.
With two restaurants on the list and another B.C. entry from Whistler, Vancouver continues to solidify its position as one of North America’s premier dining cities—alongside culinary powerhouses like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Mexico City.
And we haven’t even touched on the opening of Time Out Market Vancouver.
Annalena made its debut on the coveted ranking at No. 35, while Published on Main climbed to No. 17 after placing No. 28 last year, cementing Vancouver’s reputation as one of Canada’s top food destinations.
Among the Canadian winners, Vancouver was represented by:
Published on Main (Vancouver) — No. 17
AnnaLena (Vancouver) — No. 35
British Columbia also saw Wild Blue (Whistler) enter the list at No. 47.
Western Canada had one of the biggest nights of all, thanks to Eight (Calgary), which debuted at an impressive No. 2 and was also named Best Restaurant in West Canada.
This year’s top spot went to Smyth in Chicago.
Led by chefs John Shields and Karen Urie Shields, the acclaimed restaurant rose from No. 4 to No. 1 thanks to its refined approach to cooking, consistency and immersive dining experience.
