A bitter feud between owners David and Manjy Sidoo and local celebrity chef Rob Feenie made headlines across Canada in 2007. New executive chef Dale Mackay (formerly sous chef in Gordon Ramsay's New York operation, The London) walked into a minefield and was left struggling to rebuild a restaurant that suffered badly from the publicity surrounding Feenie's departure. Canada's only freestanding Relais & Chateaux room, it is also one of the most expensive joints in Vancouver, with no option but pricey tasting menus. A less risky bet is the adjoining tasting bar, where you can sample high-end bar dishes - including the stunning squash and mascarpone ravioli - and partake of the restaurant's great wine cellar.
