Eleo Pomare (20 October 1937 – 8 August 2008) was a Colombian-American modern dance choreographer known for his politically charged productions depicting the black experience.

Trained in NYC and Europe, Pomare was considered often considered the angry black man of modern dance, although he did not consider himself angry or bitter, rather "telling it like it is."

In the late 1960's Pomare created a series of works for then fledgling Australian Dance Theatre and dancer Jennifer Barry Knox.

In October 2016 Jennifer Barry Knox re-staged four of these works on five young Australian dancers: Jesse McKinlay, Chimene Steele-Prior, Melissa Jones, Ian RT Colless, and Alexandra Knox.

The archival film of the project, shot by budding film-maker Samuel Roberts, will be included in the Eleo Pomare collection at the Smithsonian Institute, and also the Lincoln Library and the Schonburg Museum in Harlem as part of the record of his life and work.

The film is being screened at the Mercury Cinema for one night only before being sent of to New York - and we would love to see you there to support Jennifer and the young dancers and filmmaker.
