BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD
Directed by Sidney Lumet
2007, USA, 117 min, 35mm

In BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD, two Long Island born brothers (played by Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman) plan a jewel heist that goes horribly wrong. This crime epic is the last film from the late, great director Sidney Lumet, and a great example of the fabulous storytelling Lumet was famous for, balancing suspense and his characters’ moral crises with great humanity and humor. Lumet was a great master of the American political and crime drama. He was a five-time Academy Award Nominee for the classics 12 ANGRY MEN, DOG DAY AFTERNOON, NETWORK, PRINCE OF THE CITY (for best screenplay) and THE VERDICT.

AFS is also planning an intimate reception where Hawke will be the honored guest. A limited number of tickets are available, and Premiere members will have advance access.
