Texas 84th Legislative Session Latino Legislative Advocacy Day Date: March 16th, 2015 Place: The Texas State Capitol, Austin Texas Time: 10:00-5:30 Join the us for a day of advocacy and action at the Texas Capitol to make our voices heard on important issues facing our community, including: - Equitably funding our public schools; - Rejecting privatization schemes - Eliminating punitive high-stakes testing; - Investing in more bilingual teachers; - Promoting Mexican American Studies; and - Protecting in-state tuition for all Texans regardless of status 10am Legislative Boot Camp for Education Advocates (breakfast provided courtesy of Senate Hispanic Caucus) 11:15am Joint Press Conference of the Immigration& Education Task Forces ***(lunch provided courtesy of Senate Hispanic Caucus) 12pm TX Federation of Teachers rally (Capitol- south steps) 1pm Legislative Office Visits 5pm Board the buses NOTES: Dress appropriately, and wear blue or white; bring your American flag, and your signs. Please distribute to others. BUS INFORMATION: The buses have a 52 seat capacity and are to stop at 202 West 13th St., Austin TX 78701, to disembark the passengers in order to check in and participate in the scheduled press conference. Bus amenities include the following: WI-FI, 3 Points Seat Belts, Power Outlets, and Video (DVD).
