Derby 101 And "Hell On Wheels" Screening At Austin Public Library says
From noon-2:00:
A free, family-friendly event where attendees will learn the basics of how to be a derby skater – like what safety gear you need, rules of the game, info on leagues and rec leagues, how to choose a name, etc. Attendees will be decorating shirts with their chosen skater name and taking photos in a photobooth. The Austin Public Library will be providing blank t-shirts with iron-on letters and fabric pens (people can bring their own shirt if they choose to).

At 2:30 we'll screen “Hell on Wheels” and hold a post-screening Q&A with director Bob Ray, Texas Roller Derby co-founder April Ritzenthaler (a.k.a. Queen Muerta the Destroyer!), and Texas Rollergirls co-founder Laurie Rourke-Korpi (a.k.a. The Wrench!). "Hell on Wheels" is an unrated dramatic documentary that contains salty language, intense social situations and human conflict that is likely best suited for adult and teen audiences.
