KATY DAVID: Hyperbola Hyperbole
- an embellished curve -
In Katy David's second solo exhibition with us, we present artworks that explore the earthy imperfections of the three-dimensional curved eggshell marked with geometric constructs and human manipulation. These newest works push beyond the centuries-old Pysanky method and traditional Ukrainian designs that gave birth to David's earlier artworks, with her now marking the surfaces not only using wax-resist batik process but also including other methods of dying, cutting, etching, gilding and cracking – all defying the materials innate fragility. This mark-making enhances the graceful curve, the delicate coloration and the luminous transparency of the eggshell.

Also enjoy Michael W. Hall's solo exhibit "Pathway's" while in the gallery.
