Level I Wine Seminar (3 Day Evening Course) says
The International Wine & Spirits Guild is offering accredited, curriculum-based, wine education in Austin in September, November and December . The Guild curriculum was developed for wine enthusiasts who want to embark upon a greater understanding of wine, as well as trade professionals and aspiring trade professionals in a wide range of food and wine-related positions.

The Level 1 Wine Seminar is a 12-hour course that sets a solid foundation for advanced learning and courses. It contains lectures and tastings on terms and concepts (including winemaking), regional lectures on France, Italy and the United States, and historical and food and wine pairing insight throughout each lecture. A major focus of the Level 1 Seminar is on professional wine evaluation technique, which consists of both descriptive and comparative evaluation. The certification portion of the L1 Wine Seminar is taken online after the course is taken.

Level 1 courses are $495 (with materials, wine, instruction, and a catered lunch on eight-hour class days included). For more information and to register for courses offered in Austin, Houston or Fort Worth, visit the Guild website.
