LIUNA Local 753 - Laborers' Union says
Please join us at a rally in support of living wages for Austin construction workers. The rally will take place in front of Austin City Hall at 4:00PM, so please arrive at 3:30PM. Following the rally, the Austin City Council will be hearing the item to apply the City's Living Wage of $13.03 to City of Austin construction projects at 5PM. If you can't make the rally please stil be sure to join us for the vote in City Council Chambers. Living Wages have already been expanded to cover non-construction contracts, so now it's time to do the right thing for Austin construction workers!

Partner groups that will be rallying to support living wages include the Laborers Union, Workers Defense Project, Austin Interfaith, Equal Justice Center, and the Building Trades, as well as concerned citizens, other Unions and worker rights supporters.

Item 15 to approve an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 030508-31 regarding adopted wages to be paid on city projects is being sponsored by Council Member Greg Casar and co-sponsored by Council Members Kathie Tovo, Ann Kitchen, and Delia Garza.
