Advertising
Time Out says
Austin's own, Nakia celebrates 40 years on the planet this year and he's asked some friends to help throw down a major birthday bash at Holy Mountain on Thursday, February 19th. This year's celebration will double as an EP release party for Austin's self-proclaimed purveyors of Freak Pop and Cartoon Punk, Big Bill. Their newest release, The Second Bill is available to download NOW at bigbillband.com and CDs will be available at the show. Joining the lineup will be Sire Records' newest signing, the teen trio-of-terror, Residual Kid, and Nakia's own former backing band (Blues Grifters) reborn as Johnson, now playing their own new Fuzzy Blues Rock Groove originals. Nakia himself will kick off the evening with an eclectic DJ set featuring a mixture Timeless Country, Old Soul, 90's R&B, Hair Metal, and more. Make sure to stay for the Midnight Birthday Cake Countdown! $7 Cover at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. Birthday pizza party made possible by Via 313 Pizza!
