Celebrate Star Wars Day on May the fourth (be with you) with a trip to Melbourne Museum’s new addition, Lego Star Wars: The Exhibition. The world-first – or should we say galaxy-first – event brings together two beloved brands in an epic collab with renowned Lego certified professional Ryan "Brickman" McNaught at the helm. Expect the largest collection of life-sized Lego Star Wars models ever assembled, gargantuan spaceships, stunning landscapes from a galaxy far, far away and a life-size C-3PO.

We’ve rounded up the top five reasons you need to see Lego Star Wars: The Exhibition, including how you can get a sneak peek.

Five reasons to visit the Lego Star Wars exhibition

This Galaxy first exhibition is exclusive to Melbourne Museum

As Australia’s cultural capital, it’s no wonder Melbourne was chosen to host this world-first Lego and Star Wars exhibition. The city is no stranger to being the epicenter of major events, from the Australian Open to world-class exhibitions.

The jaw-dropping spectacle, which is the first (and only) Lego Star Wars exhibit in existence, will take over the Melbourne Museum from Sunday, May 4. The best bit? All the models were built in Melbourne by Melburnians. Whether you’re a local or out-of-towner, this blockbuster event makes for the perfect excuse to spend a weekend in the vibrant metropolis.

The models are epic in scale

This groundbreaking exhibition showcases the largest collection of life-sized Lego Star Wars models ever assembled, built from more than eight million bricks in an astonishing 25,000 hours.

Step into the Star Wars universe with full-scale models of memorable characters and scenes from both classic and modern films. A must-see highlight is the Droid Hall of Fame, where you’ll find fan-favourites like C-3PO, who was meticulously crafted from pearl gold Lego bricks.

See the immersive works of art by Lego certified professional Ryan "Brickman" McNaught

Whether you know Ryan "Brickman" McNaught from his work on Lego Masters Australia, or this is your first introduction to the talented Aussie, he’s one of the world's leading Lego brick artists and the only Lego certified professional in the Southern Hemisphere. Now, you can see his creations up-close as he takes the lead on the Lego and Star Wars collab, with every model in the exhibition built at the Brickman headquarters in Keilor Park.

“We’ve pushed ourselves to build models on a scale never seen before – visitors will see the smallest details of the most iconic Star Wars moments, built brick-by-brick, says McNaught. I can’t wait for fans to experience it for themselves.”

Have a go at building your own Lego Star Wars models

Once you’ve explored the exhibition, you’re invited to get hands-on and contribute to massive brick-built landscapes, craft your own starfighters and lightsabers, and even bring your creations to life digitally. Whether you're siding with the Sith or the Jedi, choose your Force allegiance and face off against your mates in the ultimate Lego showdown.
