The opening concert of the San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival at the Grec Theatre presents an exclusive production

The opening concert of the San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival at the Grec Theatre presents an exclusive production bringing together the flamenco jazz piano of Chano Domínguez and the voice of the young cantaora Mariola Membrives. Right now, Chano Domínguez is the most widely recognised international figure combining jazz and flamenco as organically as possible. The pianist, from Cadiz but currently living in Seattle, has performed alongside jazz greats like Wynton Marsalis and he tours Europe with the explosive duo he forms with the Italian pianist Stefano Bollani. The Cordoba artist Mariola Membrives is one of the most revealing voices of recent times. She made her name with her album Llorona in a duo with the Japanese double bass player Masa Kamaguchi and she has aroused admiration and enthusiasm during 2016 and 2017 for her participation in the show Free Bach 212, by La Fura dels Baus, and for Omega 20.16, in which she offers an astonishing jazz-flamenco rereading of Enrique Morente’s album Omega. This world premiere will arouse the highest expectations.

Mariola Membrives vocals and Chano Domínguez piano.
