The three best clubbing events in Edinburgh this weekend

This week Edinburgh’s club scene goes to the circus and welcomes a stunning techno double bill to one of the city’s most long-established venues, but if we were forced to choose the best of a very good bunch we’d go with Annie Mac Presents’ latest stop in the city in conjunction with Nightvision, a five-way collision of Mac and four of the best young DJs/producers in the game.

Pulse 5th Birthday with Sterac and Truncate – Studio 24, Fri Nov 21
Edinburgh techno night Pulse’s discerning taste in guests will pay dividends as they celebrate their fifth year on the earth in the company of headliner Sterac, otherwise known as the techno-producing alias of eclectic Amsterdam electronic pioneer Steve Rachmad, under which he recorded his classic 'Secret Life of Machines' album in 1995. A veteran of labels like Tresor, Delsin, Klockworks and 100% Pure, he’ll be joined here by America’s David Flores aka Truncate, who many might know as Audio Injection.

Cirque Du Soul with DJ EZ – Liquid Room, Sat Nov 22
Here making its first foray into Scotland, UK-wide clubbing brand Cirque Du Soul sounds like it’s the kind of event which could go either way. The circus theme should be a lot of fun, with the venue decked out like a big top and performers including fire breathers and acrobats milling about, while the audience are encouraged to dress to impress in fancy circus dress style. If that all sounds a little too close to the faded burlesque craze of a few years back, the musical side of the show is peerless, with UK garage icon DJ EZ taking top billing here.

Nightvision and Annie Mac Presents – Corn Exchange, Sat Nov 22
Edinburgh’s biggest clubbing brand teams up with one of the UK’s premiere ambassadors of cutting edge new dance music, as BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac (pictured) brings her AMP tour to the big Corn Exchange venue once more. She’ll be playing herself, with support from Hannah Wants, DJ and co-producer (with Chris Lorenzo) of 2013’s bass hit 'Dappy' and this year’s 'Rhymes'; Mac’s fellow Radio 1 jock Monki; and Disclosure accomplices Tourist and LXURY.
