Funny how some things seem to have become an inherent part of Christmas without actually having anything to do with yuletide festivities. 'The Wizard of Oz' is one and 'The Sound of Music' is another, and whilst nobody seems to care that only the first half of the much-loved film is any good, this new stage version promises to remain faithful to the Julie Andrews 'classic' - the songs you know and love, the costumes from curtains, the Nazis all present and correct.
What's more it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the film itself, apparently the most successful film musical of all time if you adjust figures to today's prices, so expect demand for tickets.
Wonder if the line, 'What is it you can't face?' will remain after previous productions removed it following the YouTube viral... What's that? You don't know about it? Go on, find it in Google and have a laugh...
Please note - the image is taken from the film as no press images for this stage show are available at time of writing.
