Phuket is about to get a major new destination. Siam Piwat, the group behind Bangkok’s ICONSIAM and Siam Paragon, has announced plans for ICONPHUKET, a B10 billion development set to open in 2029, bringing together retail, entertainment, attractions, public spaces and more.

But this is not simply another shopping mall. With 12 major attractions planned, extensive green spaces and ambitions to welcome up to 100,000 visitors a day, ICONPHUKET could become one of the island's biggest new destinations.

More than just another shopping mall

While the company has not revealed exactly what those 12 attractions will be, it has confirmed that around one-third of ICONPHUKET will be dedicated to attractions and entertainment, with more than 40 percent reserved for green and open spaces.

The project will also celebrate Southern Thailand, drawing on the heritage, culture, crafts and local businesses of all 14 provinces in the region.

A much bigger plan for Thalang

ICONPHUKET will be developed in Si Sunthon, Thalang, near Thepkrasattri Road, as part of an even larger project called Synthesis Ark Phuket.

The B50 billion mixed-use development will span more than 500 rai and include hotels, residences, offices, serviced apartments, educational institutions and health and wellness facilities.

So, when can we visit?

ICONPHUKET is scheduled to open in 2029, and Siam Piwat has some ambitious visitor projections. Once fully operational, the development could attract between 80,000 and 100,000 people every day.

For now, the biggest question remains unanswered. What exactly are those 12 attractions?

The company says more details will be revealed in the coming months. We will be keeping an eye on this one.
