Tear up the dance floor with Patrick Mason at Illuzion

Ever seen Berlin-based Patrick Mason take over a club room? The former lift attendant at Berlin’s gay club The Weekend makes a performance of it, with edit-packed sets, eye-popping clobber and flamboyant dance moves. The writer’s take from an earlier Illuzion appearance: robotic moves behind the decks and a crowd rather too attached to its phones. His Berghain dance-floor roots have led to stages including Ibiza’s DC10, Fuse in Brussels, Mondo Disko in Madrid and London’s former Printworks venue. That earlier Illuzion set leaned towards slower, danceable house, but this Friday’s DJ Mag event is billed as a mix of high-intensity techno, rhythmic house and performance art.
